About Agri College Aalborg
Agri College Aalborg is an important actor on the scene of basic agricultural education in Denmark. More than 200 Farm Assistants, Animal Keepers, Gardeners, Forest Assistants, Green Keeper Assistants etc. are being trained by our dedicated teaching staff every year.
Agri College Aalborg offers a range of Vocational Education and Training (VET) programs within the field of Youth Education, leading to nationally approved qualifications and specializations, which are recognized internationally.
At Agri College Aalborg, we currently employ 20 vocational teachers and have at our disposal a small, but modern campus in a rural setting only 5 km away from the center of Aalborg. Our practical learning facilities include 57 hectares of cultivated farm land, stables for cows, pigs, horses and various small animals, as well as a greenhouse covering 1,000 m2. Additionally, we have theory class rooms and a Study Centre fitted with up-to-date ICT to create an environment, which is conducive to the learning processes of our students.
A part of Tech College Aalborg
Agri College Aalborg is a part of Tech College Aalborg – previously known as Aalborg Technical College. Founded more than 200 years ago, Tech College Aalborg is one of the largest VET institutions in Denmark. In our new organizational set-up, Tech College Aalborg provides overall management and administration, and delivers cross-cutting service functions to the group of trade related, professional colleges like Agri College Aalborg.
Cooperation with other agricultural colleges
Agri College Aalborg is closely linked in a professional network with other agricultural colleges in Denmark to which students of certain occupations are referred to complete the main program of their education. Together these colleges offer the full range of registered, agricultural VET programs within the Danish education system.
The global challenge
Danish VET Colleges have a long tradition of being engaged in international cooperation projects. The idea is to open the minds of both teachers, course participants and students to the world, and to ensure that we equip our graduates with the international competencies which are needed in the globalized labor market.
Additionally, a Danish support scheme named ‘Work Placement Abroad’ (in Danish “PIU”) makes it possible for Danish VET students to do all – or part of – the company based training included in their chosen VET program abroad. Our International Coordinator at Agri College Aalborg is currently promoting the use of this unique opportunity further among our students, who would like to do work placements in Germany, Sweden, Norway, Ireland etc. Furthermore she is continuously working to engage the college further in other types of international cooperation projects.
